Football Fan? During
Football season watch the Jacksonville Jaguars meet
opponents in the NFL's largest stadium - Alltel Stadum -
brand new and located 38 minutes away. This is also home to
the annual Georgia-Florida rivalry. Jacksonville was the
host of Super Bowl XXXIX on February 6, 2005 .

Theatre. Located just
40 minutes away in Jacksonville, several fine theatres
present extraordinary shows for your entertainment. The
Alhambra Dinner Theatre presents dinner and fine Broadway
shows. The Florida Theatre hosts the Symphony, Pops and many
fine traveling Jazz, Dance and other entertainers each
season. Each year the FCCJ Artist Series featuring Broadway
shows has a number of fine shows at the Time-Union Center
for the Performing Arts.

Hiking - Amelia
Island is literally surrounded by state and national parks.
Little Talbot Island, Big Talbot Island, Fort Clinch, and
Guana River State Park systems - along with the Cumberland
Island National Seashore - offer an unprecedented view of
Florida's natural beauty. Also see Civil War Reenactments of
Historic Battles staged monthly at Fort Clinch.

Sea Kayaking - Paddle
out to the amazing Bird Island, or through many backwater
saltmarsh tributaries. Guided tours available through the
Big Talbot Island State Park.

Biking - Ride along
the beach on a beach cruiser, or brave the world class
Off-Road Bike Trail at Ft. Clinch, considered a significant
technical challange and workout by local bikers. Not to
mention 50 miles of A1A along the beach and through the
woods between Ft. Clinch to the North and the Mayport Ferry
to the South.

Tennis - Each April,
The Amelia Island Plantation is host to the Women's Tennis
Association (WTA) Bausch & Lomb Tennis Tournament for an
entire week under the beautiful Oaks on Center Court.
Tickets are available through the Ticket Office. Locally, a
number of tennis courts exist should you want to challange
your partner to a game.

Museums - The Cummer
Museum, Alexander Brest Planetarium, Zoological Gardens,
Museum of Modern Art, Aviation Museum, Maritime Museum
Society, Museum of Southern History and Kingsley Plantation
are just some of the major attractions that make wonderful
regional day trips.

Go to the Zoo! Just
30 minutes south is the beautiful Jacksonville Zoo,
positioned along the St. John's river. Our zoo is quite nice
and can take a full day to see everything
properly.

Visit the Millionaires
Village on Jeckyl Island (about an hour away) or a view
of how the rich and famous vacationed during the Industrial
Revolotion. Family 'cottages' with names like Morgan and
Carnegie await you during this short 1/2 day
trip.

Shopping - Shopping
in historic, quaint Fernandina Beach is just minutes away,
and packed with little specialty stores but don't forget to
stop by and visit The Spa and Shops at the famous Amelia
Island Plantation resort just minutes south and open to
the public! Metropolitan Jacksonville area is a 35 minutes
drive down scenic A1A, right along the Ocean. A World Class
Spa at Amelia Island Plantation is "Open to the Public" and
waiting to transport you to a world of relaxation and spa
services so special you'll probably go twice.

Amelia River Cruises
& Charters. Watch the Dolphins or Manatee. A
visit to Amelia Island is incomplete without a tour of the

Huguenot Park - Surfing
& Fishing A short 10 miles from the south tip of
Amelia Island (just before going on to the Ferry), is a
delightful surfing and fishing beach. For more information
call (904) 251-3335. The admission fee is .50 per person and
hours are 8 AM - Sunset. Lifeguards are on duty from
Memorial Day through Labor Day from 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
There's camping on the ocean for a small fee. The fun part
about this ocean beach park is that you can drive right up
to the waters edge.

To catch a boat to
Cumberland Island from Amelia Island is just a short drive
up Highway 95 to St. Mary's where the tours leave and return
twice daily. Cumberland Island is a Georgia State
Park
