Voter
Registration: Forms are
available at the Supervisor of Elections office at the
Nassau County Courthouse Annex, 11N. 14th Street, Fernandina
and at the Department of Motor Vehicles on A1A in Yulee, as
well as the public library on 4th Street in Fernandina
Beach. There are approximately 40,000 registered voters in
Nassau County (check out the Supervisor of Election's web
site at www.votenassau.com &endash; it has lots of
information like a "precinct locater" and "find your elected
officials" and the most current voter information). Go
to web site to print voter registration form (then fill out
and bring to the office).

Options On Amelia Island
Nassau County's hospital is the
Baptist Medical Center on Amelia Island, a member of Baptist
Health Systems (904) 321-3500, with 24-hour emergency room.
The local hospital offers 54 beds and recently underwent a
$13 million expansion. The hospital has a helicopter pad,
and people involved in major medical emergencies requiring
specialized care are often life-flighted to Jacksonville
area facilities. This local hospital recently won acclaim as
being rated one of the top 100 hospitals in the nation,
within its size category.
Nearby Jacksonville healthcare
facilities include the Wolfson Children's Hospital (the only
dedicated in-patient children's hospital in the region), a
branch of the world-renowned Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville,
the University Medical Center, and the Baptist Medical
Center, Jacksonville branch.
While some people utilize doctors
located in Nassau County, others prefer traveling to
Jacksonville &emdash; this is usually a personal preference.
However, while many physicians have practices on Amelia
Island and within Nassau County, some specialty medical care
is unavailable on Amelia Island. For example, there are no
pediatric dentists or pediatric dermatologists (treating
children under 12) on Amelia Island, and no doubt other
specialized physicians that are only located in
Jacksonville.
